Enable Much?

Regarding the Mother at the Children's Museum,
Yes, you might think you and your child were the only ones at the museum this morning but in fact you weren't.  It was Saturday and it was busy with many little people and their parents.  When my child and another child walked up to the train table and wanted to play but couldn't because of the twenty trains to play with your son had all TWENTY I thought surely this mother will step in and at least give up two of the trains.  No, instead the following conversation took place.
Mother: Honey there are some other kids here that want to play do you think you could give them a couple trains to play with.
Child: NO
Mother:  Ok, honey then just keep playing.

No joke!  That's what she said and then she continued to sit there and watch her son hoard all the trains.  The other dad said to his daughter after she asked if she could have just one train, I'm sorry honey I guess we will have to come back and try again later.  My son and I just stood there and I gave her a look like, Lady Puh-lease!  and then later I took her picture to share with all the internets.

Man, you are WAY nicer than I am. I would have said something to her. Or at least snatched a damn train away from the kid. I mean, he's gotta learn sometime.

Nice! I wish I had done that when my husband and I were taking family pictures. We had walked over to a tree, were talking about how we wanted to pose, when this kid comes running up and jumped on it. His mom came over, and I thought she was going to let him know he needed to move, since we were there first, but instead starts taking pictures of him and telling him where to stand on it! I was so irritated.

Rude! Nothing like teaching your kid how to share!

Yeah, I would have just snatched one and then said a snarky thank you to the little boy for sharing the trains. That mom deserves an award! I'm sure you guys had fun anyway!

I would have taken a train away from the kid, too and then thanked him for sharing. It's a nice way to get away with it. I know it is tough teaching children to share, but come on! It must be done! Maybe she didn't want to deal with her son throwing a fit in public. And if that is the case, then she's gotta get over that. Every child throws atleast one tantrum in public...a week.

I get myself in all kinds of trouble over stuff like this. I do. not. keep. my. mouth. shut! Many parents have reamed me a new one because I have said something about how their child is misbehaving. I understand it is really not my business, but I make it mine when it involves my kid or a kid who is with me. It does take a village sometimes. And sometimes that village has to have a talk with the parents!
Good for you posting her picture.

This kid is going to be completely uncontrollable, if he's not already. I feel badly for any teacher he has.

If it takes a village to raise a kid, then this mom must be the Village Idiot.

i would have taken a much clearer pic and had something to say... they dont let me out much cause they say i can be really rude at times... but my kids always were the one to say here come play with me... unless it was to their sibling of course... but thats like behaving in public and non behaving at home LOL...
got no patience for idiots... the mom not the kid.

This is a time when you allow your kids to snatch and DARE another mother to say something about it. Ha!

Enabling is what leads to kids thinking they are entitled to things. Ugggh...I have about 90 of them!

Ahhhh. Humanity. But wouldn't she hurt her kids' feelings if she ever told them no? The horror.

I cannot believe some people are that rude - and oh yeah she is raising a child to be just as rude as she is!

She sounds awful. I too would have said something, but that may not have been the best in front of children.
Too bad the picture isn't more clear, LOL.
